Come spend the day learning the foundations of silversmithing in a relaxed, hands-on and intimate setting.

With small classes of just 5 people, you’ll have plenty of opportunity for one-on-one guidance, ask questions and work at your own pace.

This clinic is designed for beginners and for anyone who wants to learn how to silversmith without investing in a traditional, expensive jewellery studio.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

During the clinic you’ll learn:

• Basic silversmithing techniques
• How to safely use a portable torch and work with heat
• Traditional silversmithing stamping techniques
• How to design your own piece within the project
• How to stamp and texture your silver
• Basic soldering techniques
• How to set a gemstone
• Basic hand-finishing techniques
• How to create a beautiful brushed finish using sandpaper and steel wool
• Different approaches to finishing and polishing your jewellery

Where appropriate, Skystone Eagle may complete any final polishing or finishing using workshop equipment.

YOUR PROJECT

Everyone will create a sterling silver pendant set with a gemstone, ready to wear on a sterling silver chain, which is provided as part of the clinic.

All materials needed to complete your project are included, including your sterling silver, gemstone and sterling silver chain.

Each participant will work from the same project pack, while having the opportunity to make their own design choices and add their own personal touches.

Gemstones may vary, but stones provided will be selected to be approximately the same size and suitable for the project.

A DIFFERENT WAY TO LEARN SILVERSMITHING

This isn’t a traditional jewellery-school setup with expensive machinery and a permanent workshop.

Skystone Eagle clinics are designed around portable silversmithing — learning the skills you can actually take home and continue from your kitchen table, studio, shed or while travelling.

You’ll learn how to work with a practical, portable setup rather than relying on a large, expensive jewellery studio.

We’ll cover the equipment and techniques used during the clinic, as well as any questions you have about developing your own portable setup.

A RELAXED DAY OF LEARNING

This is designed to be a relaxed and enjoyable day of learning.

Take breaks whenever you need them, ask as many questions as you like and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee while you work.

Please bring your own water and snacks for the day.

The clinic generally runs for around 4 hours, but please allow up to 5 hours depending on the pace of the group, questions, individual projects and how the day unfolds.

AFTER THE CLINIC

Your support doesn’t stop when you leave.

If you get home and have questions about what you’ve learned, you’re welcome to contact Skystone Eagle by email for ongoing guidance and support.

Emails are generally answered once a week.

There will also be an opportunity to purchase a starter silversmithing pack after completing the clinic if you’d like to continue practising at home if they are in stock at time or can be ordered in for you and shipped to your address.
